COLLECTION PROCESS:

STEP 1:

• Positively ID the donor.
• Explain the test to the donor.
• Inspect the collection device.
• Open up the packaging containing the collection pad & specimen vial.

STEP 2:

• Place the vial in front of the donor.
• Have the donor grasp the handle and remove the collection device from the sleeve.
  

STEP 3:

• Instruct the donor to place the pad under the tongue.
• Remove the device when the handle tip begins to turn blue.

STEP 4:

• Carefully open the vial in the upright position.
• Give the donor the vial and have them push the collection pad into the vial.
• Have the donor place the cap on the vial until the top snaps.

STEP 5:

• Have the donor place the tamper-evident seal across the top of the vial.
• The donor should date and initial the vial.
• Ensure that the first page of the Chain-of-Custody is with the sample vial.
